5-key-stages-in-every-students-career-development-journey

Guided by the Fortes 360 Promise at Regent International School

When does a child’s career journey really begin?

At Regent International School, we believe it starts far earlier than most imagine. It’s not just about choosing a job—it’s about discovering who they are, what excites them, and how to unlock their potential in a world full of opportunity.

Backed by the Fortes 360 Promise, our students follow a guided, meaningful journey from FS1 to Year 13—where every step is supported by strong academics, real-world exposure, and a deep commitment to emotional and personal growth.

Stage 1: Early Exposure (FS1 – Year 2)

It all begins with curiosity.
Our youngest learners are natural explorers—and we design every experience to fuel that sense of wonder. Through imaginative role play, storytelling, and inquiry-based learning, students begin to build the foundations of communication, collaboration, and creativity.

Pastoral care is woven into every part of their day—from how we speak, play, and resolve conflict, to how we support transitions and friendships.

What this looks like:

  • Role-play corners and early STEAM exploration
  • Emphasis on social-emotional learning and confidence building
  • Caring, consistent routines that develop security and belonging
  • Gentle exposure to real-world themes (community helpers, nature, etc.)

Stage 2: Discovering Interests (Year 3 – Year 5)

As students grow, their personalities, interests, and talents begin to emerge.

We nurture this through our Signature Programmes in ROBOTICS, Ai, Financial Literacy, STEAM, Sports, Performing Arts, and Academics, offering children a wide range of meaningful experiences. Students are encouraged to try new things, reflect on what they enjoy, and understand how learning connects to life.

What this looks like:

  • Participation in all the Signature Programmes
  • Physical development and teamwork through sports and play
  • Emotional development through inclusive classroom culture and teacher support
  • Exposure to a wide range of topics that spark ideas about the future

Stage 3: Profiling and Preparation (Year 6 – Year 8)

Here’s where students start connecting their interests to potential pathways.

With age-appropriate career workshops, interest profiling, and reflection tools, students begin to shape their identity and direction. Pastoral care is not a separate service—it’s embedded in our relationships, routines, and how we help students manage growth, setbacks, and choices.

What this looks like:

  • Career discovery activities and motivational guest sessions
  • Self-reflection tools and interest profiling
  • Opportunities to lead, collaborate, and present
  • Positive discipline and emotional support through classroom practices

Stage 4: Real-World Experience (Year 9 – Year 11)

At this stage, we bridge school learning with real-life opportunities.

Students participate in internships, industry-linked projects, and career coaching to prepare for the world beyond the classroom. They begin their university planning with confidence, knowing their choices are rooted in purpose and self-awareness.

What this looks like:

  • Industry speaker sessions, project-based learning, and innovation fairs
  • CV building, personal branding, and mock interviews
  • Real-world challenges and competitions
  • Guidance from teachers and mentors who know their story

Stage 5: Future-Ready Graduation (Year 12 – Year 13)

By the time they graduate, our students are prepared—not just to apply to university, but to lead fulfilling lives.

They’ve built a portfolio of experiences, strengths, and stories. Backed by the Pearson Edexcel curriculum, our students gain entry into top universities globally, from the UK and US to Europe and Asia.

What this looks like:

  • University application support and alumni connections
  • Leadership roles and public speaking opportunities
  • Recognition of academic, emotional, and social growth
  • Preparation for global citizenship through values-led education
